An American man won a million dollar lottery thanks to being cut in line.

According to the New York Post on the 28th (local time), Stephen Espinoza (43), who lives in Florida, recently visited a supermarket in Delray Beach after work to buy an instant lottery ticket for ‘500X the Cash’. The lottery has a maximum prize of 25 million dollars (approximately 30.7 billion won).

As Steven stood in line to buy a lottery ticket, a man intervened between Steven and the counter. This customer who cut in line intercepted and bought the lottery ticket that Steven was originally going to buy. Stephen is upset, but he doesn’t want to quarrel, so he quietly buys the next lottery ticket.

Scratching the purchased lottery ticket, Stephen was startled. Because he won a million dollars. Stephen immediately went to the lottery company in Tallahassee, Florida, to pick up his winnings. The actual amount after tax was 820,000 dollars (approximately 1.08 billion won). If the supermarket hadn’t been cut in line, the prize could have belonged to a rude customer.

“It’s still hard to believe that I won,” Steven said. “I plan to use the winnings to buy a house for my family.”

“If you think patience alone won’t pay off, check out how Stephen became a millionaire,” the Florida lottery company tweeted.
