And as in the past, pride of place has been reserved for creators from the region, many of whom feature in the auction corpus. Moreover, this year, it is a little more than fifteen regional artists or emerging talents who find themselves at the auction alongside big names such as Jean Paul Riopelle, Armand Vaillancourt, Serge Lemoyne and Raymonde April.
A diversity that means that buyers, regular or occasional, always have access to a different catalog which sometimes arouses unexpected favorites, as the Curator points out: “It’s very surprising! Sometimes it’s not at all the works that I would have thought of, which arouse the most interest. I think that the artists of the region still have a very good showcase and they arouse, all the same, a great interest too. So I think there are several works. There is something for all tastes, all price ranges; so we try to find several styles, several mediums”.
