How many Albanians are thought to live in Switzerland?

Three percent of Switzerland’s 9 million inhabitants are Albanian. This was confirmed by the Federal Statistical Office in Bern.

According to the Office, 300,000 inhabitants of Switzerland are Albanians and the vast majority of them come from Kosovo.

Christoph Freymond of the FSO said that the number of Albanians in Switzerland has increased significantly and more than in other communities.

“Every year, hundreds of them are naturalized, that is, obtain a Swiss passport,” Freymond explained.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, more than 90,000 Albanians have a Swiss passport.

Of the 300,000 Albanians in Switzerland, more than 200,000 come from Kosovo, 70,000 from Macedonia, 20,000 from the Presheva Valley and 3,500 from Albania.

According to the Bernese official, the Albanians in Switzerland today constitute the largest and most numerous community in this country and are an example of success and integration. /Albinfo.ch
