Of October 11, 2023 to January 7, 2024the exhibition “Les Aliénés du Mobilier national” will be held at the Gobelins Gallery (Paris).

As part of an innovative and ecological approachthe Mobilier national chose to entrust some of these pieces to visual artists. The opportunity to discover 53 new works, transformed by 39 contemporary creators.

Behind this ambiguous titlethe exhibition is coupled with a program to promote the collections of the former Royal Furniture Guard, in touch with the societal and environmental reflections of our time.

Parts, previously considered “inalienable”, can then be destroyed, sold or even reused to recover the materials of which they are composed.

For this second promotion of the Alienated, there are thirty-nine contemporary creators who had “carte blanche” to reinterpret, according to their sensitivity, this old furniture of little heritage value so that it can reintegrate the collections of the Mobilier national.
