Israel’s military forces withdrew from al-Shifa hospital in Gaza two weeks after the start of the operation against the compound, the second after the first intervention last November. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the operation against the hospital, the main one in the Gaza Strip, as a great success in which, thanks to “precise and surgical” raids, 200 “terrorists” were killed and hundreds were forced to surrender . According to Tel Aviv, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad had also established a headquarters in the area. The Jewish state’s army reported close combat and accused Hamas of causing the destruction of part of the hospital, claiming that several militiamen had barricaded themselves in the wards of the facility while others targeted it with mortar fire. During the various raids, 900 suspects were also arrested, including over 500 alleged Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad militiamen. Over $3 million worth of weapons and currency were seized.
