We had one of the biggest exits for Easter in recent years this year, as citizens, using all means of transport, left the closed city, with the aim of spending a few days of rest in the countryside.
As expected, the departure peaked yesterday on Good Friday and in the ports of Piraeus and Rafina there was… traffic jam from the departing ships, although there were some cancellations due to the gale force winds that put a “stop” on some itineraries.
The traffic was particularly high from early in the morning on the national roads and the same applies to the KTEL buses of almost the entire country. The increase also concerns our own region, with all points compared to 2023.
Starting with the KTEL Achaia, there was a small increase of 2-3%, but what the people of the Organization found is that the “wave” of excursions from Athens to Patras came together and thus 30 extraordinary routes were added in the last three days, in order to meet increased demand.
A double-digit increase in traffic was also registered yesterday by the Bridge, which saw 12,800 vehicles pass through the tolls in both directions until yesterday noon, compared to 10,830 vehicles that had passed on the corresponding day in 2023, that is, we are talking about an increase of the order of 16% with smooth traffic flow.
Finally, as far as the national network is concerned, according to the data of “Olympia Odos”, until yesterday at noon at 2 p.m., almost 8,000 vehicles had passed, which is a little more than on the corresponding day in 2023.
