The media office of the Libyan Prime Minister-designate, Fathi Bashagha, stated that the committee concerned with receiving and sorting the files of candidates applying to take over ministerial portfolios in the government has begun its work, while the House of Representatives is heading to cancel an important session that hopes were placed on it to end the controversy in the country, hours before it was scheduled, while it stressed UN Adviser Stephanie Williams stressed the need for the various Libyan political forces to seek to achieve the broadest possible consensus, through an inclusive and transparent process.

The office added, according to what was reported by the Libyan newspaper, Al-Marsad, that the committee will review, study and evaluate CVs in accordance with the standards stipulated in Libyan laws, in addition to competence and practical experience, in preparation for addressing the competent judicial departments with the names and data of the candidates to ensure that there are no impediments or criminal restrictions. or security.

On the other hand, the House of Representatives is heading to cancel an important session that was hoped to end the controversy in the country, hours before it was scheduled.

The media advisor to the President of the Council, Fathi Al-Marimi, said, in statements, that the members of the Council have not been invited to hold a session on Monday so far.

Al-Marimi explained that the cancellation of the session may be due to one of two reasons, the first of which is the participation of Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh in the meeting of heads of Arab parliaments in Cairo, or due to the failure to complete the cabinet formation of Prime Minister-designate Fathi Bashagha.

For her part, Amal Bugaighis, a member of the Political Dialogue Forum, said in a Facebook post that she had learned from her sources that the Cyrenaica region’s share in the expected ministerial line-up will be 9 ministers, noting that there is nothing wrong with political quotas.

In addition, the commander of the so-called “Al-Samoud Brigade” on the US sanctions lists and the Security Council, Salah Badi, announced his categorical rejection of the parliament’s decision to form a parallel government led by Bashagha.

He called on the national unity government to amend and correct its course through a ministerial reshuffle and to exclude those suspected of corruption. Badi revealed that he does not recognize Parliament or the State Council and considers them to be finished political bodies. It is the reason why Libya is in a state of fragmentation and occupation.

He appealed to what he called the revolutionaries of Libya to get out and circumvent a unified leadership to restore the prestige and leadership of the state again.

Focus on the elections

On the other hand, Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephanie Williams, called on all actors to continue to focus on the electoral process in accordance with the demand of the Libyan people and to maintain the existing calm in the country.

This came during a meeting that Williams met with two members of the State Council, Belkacem Iqzit and Abdullah Jawan, to discuss the current political situation, according to Williams’ tweet on Twitter.

Williams reiterated the need for the various Libyan political forces to seek to achieve the broadest possible consensus through a comprehensive and transparent process.

The arrest of a “terrorist cell” in Tripoli

Meanwhile, the “Combined Counter-Terrorism Operations Force” in Libya published videos of the confessions of a cell affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS, which was arrested in implementation of the instructions of the Public Prosecutor. The arrested terrorists confirmed that some of them joined the extremist organization in 2014 and 2016, after pledging allegiance to the terrorist Mahmoud al-Barasi, the emir of the organization, and their participation in the armed confrontations that took place in Benghazi before moving to southern Libya, in addition to the formation of a secret cell in Tripoli led by the arrested terrorist Ahmed Al-Khashmi, nicknamed Al-Adnani. .

The Joint Operations Force arrested all elements of the cell consisting of Sanad Al-Suwaii, Ahmed Ali Al-Khashmi, Tariq Abdul Salam Al-Obeidi and Abdullah Idris Al-Obaidi, which was stationed in Tripoli. (agencies)
