From 12 October, the Austrian Mint will issue a five-euro democracy coin in a limited edition of 200,000 pieces.

Executed with nine corners as a reference to the federal states, the coin shows the parliament building as well as three heads representing the entirety of the people as sovereign.
The pieces are available from October 12th in financial institutions and at the Austrian Mint for five euros, according to a broadcast. In addition, the Austrian Mint is touring through all nine federal states, and at the end there is a stand on the national holiday at the last open day of the parliament in the alternative quarters on Josefsplatz.
In the course of the parliamentary renovation, the old copper roof was partially removed and a glass dome was erected over the National Council Hall. A total of 1.8 tons of scrap copper was melted down for the new coins. If you are not satisfied with copper in your wallet, there is also a silver coin with the same motif at the recommended initial issue price of 19.80 euros.
