The Autonomous Central of Workers of Argentina (CTA) and the ATE union will carry out a 48 hour strike this Thursday and Friday in the municipal, provincial and national state agencies of Río Negro.
The measure was announced with the main objective of “denounce the criminalization of social protest”, although in the formal communication to the Ministry of Labor of the province Several demands related to the salaries received by public agents were included.
The defined fight plan foresees a concentration in front of the Federal Court of Roca, considering that from there “an attempt is made to involve leaders and judge them for their participation in demonstrations.”
This reference has to do with the trial that four leaders of both organizations have been facing since last week, accused of the crime of unlawful deprivation of liberty for the events that occurred in 2019 in the home of the then National Social Development delegate. , Miriam Saigg.
For this cause, labeled as No. FGR 021305/2019/TO01, they are charged Miguel Baez, Claudia Reyes, Zulma Davila and Romeo Aguiar.
“Clearly we are going to demonstrate that here in no way has the crime of deprivation of liberty that the defendants are accused been committed,” said Diego Broggini, lawyer for the Autonomous CTA.
For his part, the head of ATE in the province, Rodrigo Vicente, assured in a statement that “We are not going to allow them to unjustly incriminate union leaders and social organizations in an attempt of absurd discipline by a corrupt justice”.
In the notification of the measure to the Ministry of Labor, the leadership of ATE explained that there will be mobilizations and protests of its affiliates in municipal, provincial and national organizations.
In addition to going “against the criminalization of social protest, for saying no to the IMF”, the points that support the plan of struggle are: “Emergency salary increase; for the recognition of ATE in ARSA; increase of the additional ones in all the organisms of the State, Collective Agreement of work and pass to permanent plant”.
