Leaving Moscow and returning to France is what Flavie and Maxime Grillon are about to do. In their suitcases, they carry everything: their children’s toys, clothes and wedding photos. “I am very sad, very sad to leave Russia in this context,” says Flavie. Now, with the conflict in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia, Maxime, who works in the aviation sector, believes that life in Russia will become too complicated.
“It is the most complete uncertainty”
In the city center, other French people still want to believe it. This is the case of the business company Cifal. The boss has been living in Russia for 30 years. But this time, he fears that the crisis will weaken his company and its thirty employees. “It’s the most complete uncertainty because we are in a new world,” he says. Despite everything, he assures: “nothing will make me leave the country because these are decades that are not only economic, it is a part of my life, of my family, of my friends”.
