The Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of the Housing Bank, Antoine Habib, stated that “the loan ceiling of the Housing Bank for solar energy is 75 million pounds, with an interest of 4.99%.”

In an interview with “Voice of Lebanon”, he pointed out that “the housing bank loan targets the Lebanese and non-residents, provided that their criminal record is free of any black spot, and the value of the loan is over 30 years with an interest of 4.99%, and the value of the restoration loan is 400 million pounds and an interest of 4.99%.” “.

He said, “The Housing Bank loan exists for housing, not for industry or agriculture. We signed a memorandum of understanding with the Lebanese Central for Energy Conservation with the aim of supporting the granting of solar energy loans.”

He continued, “We are a private institution owned by the private sector by 80%. The Housing Bank is subject to supervision by international auditors, and the funding sources are local, Arab and international.”

Habib pointed out that the Foundation “cannot replace the state, and the Housing Bank cannot cover all Lebanese territories.”

He said, “The loan of the Arab Fund for Social Development was approved by the House of Representatives and the Kuwaiti Cabinet, and it is a glimmer of hope, and there are contacts to sign an agreement with European funds.”

He added, “The loan system was established for the purpose of buying or renovating housing in rural areas for people with medium and limited incomes, and I will implement this system, but if the government wants to change it, I have no objection.”

He stated that “the housing loans will be made electronically via the website to facilitate the borrower, provided that the minimum family income is 6 million Syrian pounds, and the maximum is 20 million Syrian pounds, provided that the area of the house does not exceed 120 meters and be in remote areas and villages.”
