The episode aired this Tuesday on M6 was marked by the red flag which allows the pair in its possession to interrupt the race of another pair of opponents for fifteen minutes. Alexander and Shirin had a most strategic use of it. The Ile-de-France couple, wanting to protect the sisters Alexandra and Laura, sought to influence the final ranking. His project: wave the red flag as many times as necessary in front of Clement and Emeline in order to condemn them to the last place and therefore to take part in the final duel by counting on the fact that they would choose to face Xavier and Céline. But the plan didn’t quite go to plan. Story, by the main concerned.
Alexandre : I was very happy to have won the red flag, it gives a feeling of superiority, it’s a superpower. We didn’t really follow a strategy, we rather respected our alliance with the sisters.
Chirine: For us, it was Clément, Emeline, Xavier and Céline against the sisters and us.
Emeline : It was a very difficult stage for us. With Clément, we always got on well, we are very close but there, we started to argue. I understood that Clément no longer really had the same vision of racing as me. We knew that either we won everything or we risked elimination more than any other pair since we joined the game after the others.
Clément : We were also under tension because of the red flag. It was very stressful because Chirine and Alexandre had already waved it in front of us and we knew we had no room for error.
Chirine: It wasn’t against Clément and Emeline but it was above all to protect the sisters from the final duel, with whom we had a friendly crush. We were very close to Xavier and Céline but, during the “untouchables” episode, we thought they were going to save us, but they preferred to support Nathalie and Angie. We took it like a stab in the back. We understood that they wanted to eliminate us. The red flag was a way for us to tell ourselves that the wheel was turning, that it was now up to us and the sisters to protect ourselves.
Alexandra and Laura arrive first at the finish line but do not step onto the mat in order to validate their victory, in accordance with what they had planned with Alexandre and Chirine, who were quick to join them.
Alexandre : We were very happy that they were waiting for us, it strengthened the confidence we had in them.
Emeline : When we saw the other pairs on arrival, we fell 50,000 floors. When Chirine and Alexandre waved the red flag in front of us, we realized that they intended to send us to a final duel.
Chirine: Our objective was to have them finish last in the stage because we were convinced that they would choose to face Xavier and Céline, who were the weakest, in the final duel. We thought that if Xavier and Céline finished last they would choose to play the final duel against Laura and Alexandra.
Emeline : For us Xavier and Céline were no less strong. In our eyes, all the pairs were equally competitive.
Celine: During the race, I was angry that Xavier and I were targeted by the red flag. Psychologically it was hard to give yourself so much and to tell yourself that we were doing it for nothing. I was sure that we would go to the final duel, that we would not cut it.
Xavier : All that made me smile because it’s strategic, it’s normal. It’s a competition, the red flag is made for that. We were only four teams left in the race so, at some point, we had to be targeted. I thought to myself, “Whatever will happen will happen. »
Emeline : I think that when Xavier and Céline arrived, they didn’t really understand what was going on. We were on the side, on the ground, and I was in tears. We had arrived a very long time ago and I guess they thought they were the last.
Chirine: Emeline disagreed with Clement. She would have preferred to choose Xavier and Celine for the final duel. When she started crying, we cried too.
Xavier : We had taken the red flag all day, we thought it was screwed.
Celine: On arrival, we were shocked, we wondered what was happening.
Clément : We explained to Céline and Xavier that we offered them the place in the half, that we were not going to choose them for the final duel.
Chirine: We thought it was a bluff and that they wouldn’t risk their place by choosing the sisters.
Celine: We were super moved and at the same time we felt guilty, it was a bit special.
Xavier : It was a funny emotion. Emeline was crying, I had tears in my eyes. I was sad because I didn’t understand what was going on. I was in awe. Clément and Emeline form an extraordinary duo, they are young natures and without any animosity.
Alexandre : I had tried to convince Clément to choose Xavier and Céline by telling him that he had less chance of going out against them than against Alexandra and Laura.
Clément : It was out of the question for us to choose Xavier and Céline. We really created a very strong bond with them during the “untouchables” episode. Already that Alexandre and Chirine were imposing the final duel on us, they weren’t going to tell us who to choose.
Alexandre and Chirine ended up getting on the mat first and thus won the day’s stage.
Chirine: Xavier and Céline then got on the carpet without understanding what was happening.
Alexandre : This took me aback because I told myself that if they were in alliance with Clément and Emeline they should have sought to understand what was at stake.
Clément : With hindsight, we could have hoped that Xavier and Céline let us pass before them [pour qu’on ne finisse pas derniers], but it’s normal that they went there, they played their game. In any case, we didn’t have that in mind at all when they arrived. For us it was obvious that we were going to a final duel.
Emeline : I would especially have liked Xavier and Céline to come to us when they arrived. I love them, it doesn’t change anything, but I was in tears and they didn’t care what happened. Afterwards, I imagine that they were in the race and that they didn’t have much time to ask themselves questions either.
Chirine: When we learned that Alexandra and Laura had been chosen for the final duel, we were sad. They had kept their promise by waiting for us at the finish and they put themselves in danger.
The final duel was won by Alexandra and Laura, who thus qualified for the semi-final where they will face Xavier and Céline as well as Alexandre and Chirine. Clément and Emeline were eliminated.
Emeline : Of course there are some regrets because we weren’t masters of our destiny on this last stage but that’s the game. We accept the rules and we had a great adventure and made some great encounters.
Clément : Today we have no resentment towards Chirine and Alexandre. Anyway Beijing Express is a big family, all the candidates came down south again last week, we watched the episode together. We just hope we managed to stay ourselves, smiling and playing. We really enjoyed participating in Beijing Express and we only keep the positive.
