According to AFP, on January 18, European Parliament (EP) elected Mr. Marc Angel, a socialist from Luxembourg, as the new Vice President of this legislature, replacing her. Eva Kaili after she was arrested and dismissed due to a scandal about bribe.

Ms Kaili has been detained in Belgium since December 2022 after being arrested during a large-scale police operation related to bribery allegations by various non-EU countries that have rocked the EP.
She is one of four suspects detained in the investigation into alleged kickbacks from Qatar and Morocco. Ms. Kaili has been removed from her position as one of the 14 vice-presidents of the EP, but remains an MP.
