The EU’s Chips Act is intended to make Europe more independent in digitalization – network policy

Europe is an important sales market for computer chips. However, less than 10 percent of semiconductors are currently produced here. The corona pandemic has shown that this can become a problem for European car and machine manufacturers: because chips were not delivered from Asia on time, the production lines in Europe came to a standstill. For this reason and because of growing tensions between China and the USA, the EU wants to use the Chips Act to specifically promote the establishment of chip companies.
