The Fight for Memory and Social Justice: A Son of Democracy’s Reflections

2023-11-21 10:17:15

I am 30 years old, I am a son of democracy. And I am very aware of it. I feel proud to have been born in a country that is an international example when it comes to the fight for human rights. We are a people that learned from the darkest pages of our history, so as not to repeat them again. But today, November 19, 2023, the ultra-right has taken over the presidency for the next 4 years. Part of that memory has been collapsed like a house of cards. We have failed, and I am responsible, in the exercise of memory.

A large portion of the Argentine people has decided on a political option that apologizes and vindicates the atrocities of the last civil-military dictatorship. I think, due to ignorance.

We must realize that the fight for memory and social justice will never end. For those who have put their bodies for us, and for our future, we will have to take charge of this fight.
