The first comment from the health agent regarding the emergence of “monkeypox” and the possibility of its spread in the Kingdom

Al-Marsad newspaper: The Saudi Undersecretary for Preventive Health, Abdullah Asiri, explained the Kingdom’s ability to monitor and discover suspected cases of “monkeypox” and combat infection.

He said during an intervention on the Saudi Al-Arabiya channel: “There is a standard definition of suspected cases and the way to confirm them. Monitoring and diagnosis methods are available in the laboratories of the Kingdom, praise be to God.”

He added: “And by means of monitoring systems, health practitioners are familiar with the standard definition of the disease and its methods of suspicion, monitoring samples, and infection control in suspected cases.”

He continued, “Until now, cases of transmission between humans are very limited, and therefore the possibility of any outbreaks occurring from it, even in countries that have detected cases, are very low, and just as countries are preparing for any epidemic diseases, there are mechanisms for monitoring, dissemination and infection control measures.”
