The former Belgian soldier arrested in Norway following his death threats against the Prime Minister has been placed under an arrest warrant and will appear next Tuesday before the council chamber.

Sam H., the former Belgian soldier arrested in Norway for death threats against Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, has been placed under an arrest warrant. The man will appear next Tuesday before the council chamber in Brussels, the federal prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

Sam H. posted a video on social media on July 7 where he was seen shooting four shots in a photo of the prime minister. The Limburg prosecutor’s office, where the person resides, immediately opened an investigation, which has since been taken over by the federal prosecutor’s office.

He was heard this Friday by the federal judicial police (PJF) then by an investigating judge. This judge “considered that there were sufficiently serious indications of guilt and that his detention was necessary in the context of public security”, explained a spokesperson for the federal prosecutor’s office, Antoon Schotsaert. “The man is suspected of having prepared a terrorist act and of having threatened to commit a terrorist act,” he added.
