According to leaker Ice Universe, Samsung has managed to make the screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 disappear when the smartphone is open.
Since the appearance of the first smartphones with a folding screen, more than three years ago, one of the main challenges for manufacturers is precisely to make people forget this fold when the screen is open. Indeed, if users can generally ignore it when holding the smartphone in front of them, this fold is not always the most graceful and it can cause some problems in terms of reflections.
Samsung has improved things slightly since the first Samsung Galaxy Fold, launched at the end of 2019, but there is still room for improvement. On our test of Galaxy Z Fold 3we noted that “the fold that cuts the large internal screen in two remains clearly visible when you do not hold the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in front of you”enough to slightly spoil the design of this very high-end smartphone.
It seems that Samsung is aware of this design concern and is preparing to improve things for the next generation of folding smartphones. It must be said that Samsung’s competitors have worked hard on their side to offer folding screens with increasingly discreet folds. This is the case ofOppo Find N that we were able to take in hand at the beginning of the year. On this smartphone, even with the screen open, the fold seems to completely disappear to give the smartphone a real mini-tablet look: “there is a point that appeals a lot about the Oppo Find N when it turns into a tablet and that concerns the fold in the center of the large screen… Or rather, the almost total absence of this fold”.
