The girl accused Epic Games of bias because of her participation in labor unions – the company did not take her to the position after the interview | News

Cher Scarlett, who previously worked at Blizzard Entertainment and Apple, accused Epic Games of unfairly denying her a job. The girl filed a complaint against the company with the National Labor Relations Administration. This was reported by The Washington Post.

Scarlett believes that Epic Games turned her down due to the fact that in the past she was a member of labor unions and labor rights movements. The girl had two interviews in November and December 2021. After the second, the company asked to fill out a form about activities that may overlap with work at Epic Games, where Scarlett indicated that she advocated for fair working conditions in the Apple initiative group. Two days after that, Tim Sweeney’s company notified the girl that she had not received the position.

Representatives of Epic Games confirmed that the girl participated in the competition for the position of senior front-end developer along with two other candidates. In her profile, Scarlett provided a link to a website that also mentioned participation in various worker movements. However, Epic Games noted that this information did not affect the decision-making process – other candidates simply received more points in the interview.

The National Labor Relations Administration has yet to file a complaint with Epic Games. The agency will conduct its own investigation before taking further action. Scarlett has previously filed complaints against Mozilla for being denied a position, as well as against Apple for a toxic work environment and obstruction of the collection of data on employees’ salaries.
