The great Vilnius saga continues to be voiced by Darius Gumauskas – the audiobook “Silva rerum III” has been released Culture

The first two parts of the novel were voiced by actress Jovita Jankelaitytė, while the last two were unsurprisingly entrusted to actor Dariis Gumauskas. He charmed the writer already at the audition, after reading the scene of the shooting of the horse.

The actor himself has said that he tried his best to immerse himself in the atmosphere of the piece while singing.

“While reading, I tried to act as little as possible, to feel more in the atmosphere created by Kristina. Kristina really has that amazing ability: she kind of grabs you by the lapels and just starts wearing you piece by piece. During the filming of the horse killing scene, you definitely had to go outside to cool off several times. I identified with Petrus Antans the most – with his cunning, adventures, fights, love stories”, the actor shared his impressions of the voiceover.

A tribute to music

In this part of the audiobook, as in the first two, an important role is played by carefully selected, virtuosic pieces of music performed by Gediminas Gelgot and world-renowned baroque and Vivaldi music performers, such as Grammy winners Fabio Biondi and the Europa Galante ensemble.

In the audiobook “Silva rerum III” the composer Gediminas Gelgot’s piece “Extracadenza” is performed by the Vilnius City Ensemble “NIKO”, Antonio Vivaldi’s “La Notte” for flute and strings, performed by Silvio Celeghino (organ), Margherita Gianola (flute) and the Venice ensemble “Accademia di San Rocco” conducted by Francesco Fanno (Italy), Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos in G Minor (Largo and Allegro) by Fabio Biondi and Ensemble Europa Galante (Italy) as well as Johann Sebastian Bach “Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor (Polonaise), performed by Penelope Evison and the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble (Sweden).

The cycle of historical novels “Silva rerum” by Kristina Sabaliauskaitė, PhD, is undoubtedly one of the most significant events in Lithuanian literature in recent decades. The first part won the Jurga Ivanauskaitė prize in 2008, was included in the twelve most creative books and in 2009 Book of the Year chosen by readers.

The second novel “Silva rerum II”, which continues the story of the famous Lithuanian family Norvaiši, also became the Book of the Year, and the author in 2011 awarded St. Christopher’s statue for the reflections of Vilnius in literature. Part III was awarded the Liudas Dovydėnas prize.

All three parts of the novel “Silva rerum” can be purchased in audio format from the Internet of the publishing house “Baltos lankas”. on the website.
