The Hornets’ coaching staff is now complete for the 2022/23 season. The North Carolina franchise has formalized what will be the new organization chart on its benchstarting with the arrival of Tyrone Corbin, who will be Steve Clifford’s main assistant.
Former NBA player Tyrone Corbin was Jazz head coach for three years (2011-2014) before continuing his career as an assistant in Sacramento, Phoenix and Orlando (2018-2021), already with Steve Clifford.
Bob Beyer, former assistant to Steve Clifford at the Hornets in 2013/14, and Rex Walters, another seasoned assistant (18 years between NCAA and NBA), both had their last experience in New Orleans in 2020/21.
Finally, Bruce Kruetzer and Brian O’Connor complete the picture. Bruce Kruetzer also returns to Charlotte where he worked as an assistant from 2015 to 2018, before following Steve Clifford to Orlando. Brian O’Connor arrives for his part from Georgetown where he worked with Patrick Ewing for five years as director of video operations. He should logically occupy the same position.
Note that Steve Clifford has retained four elements of the staff previously composed by James Borrego: Jay Hernandez, Nick Friedman, Norman Richardson (all three in charge of player development) and Marlon Garnett, who works mainly with LaMelo Ball.
