The Investment Bank signed the Global Principles on Women’s Empowerment (WEPs), an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact and UN Women. They are a set of principles that provide guidance to businesses and organizations on how to promote gender equality and follow international labor and human rights standards.
Through this document, the investment bank will continue to work on empowering women and enhancing their role in society, by involving them in leadership positions and the decision-making process, and creating equal opportunities in the workplace.
By the way, Ahmed Mohamed Abu Eida, CEO of the Investment Bank, said: “We firmly believe that women have a key role in the field of work in order to achieve sustainable development and inclusive economic growth. In addition, diversity is an essential pillar and an important aspect in all fields.”
He added, “Empowering women is part of the bank’s goals and strategy, which is in line with the UAE government’s permanent commitment to work to promote gender balance in all sectors.”
Rehab Khalaf, Head of Human Resources at Investment Bank, said: “We are passionate about providing inspiration and empowerment to women and will always strive to achieve greater gender balance in the workplace. Diversity is vital to success and also contributes to achieving the desired goals.”
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Director of the UN Women Liaison Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council, said: “About 47% of working-age women participated in the global labor market, compared to 74% of men – a gender gap that has remained the same. relatively for decades. To bridge this gap, joint action and cooperation between the various parties, including the private sector, as a major employment sector, is vital. By taking specific measures to increase the number of female employees and promote equal employment and leadership opportunities, the investment bank is a great role model for the private sector in the UAE, and we look forward to supporting their efforts.”
