Earlier, AvtoVAZ management announced the gradual replacement of the entire Granta family with the new Iskra model in the next 4-5 years. Such a strategy testifies to the refusal of the Togliatti auto giant from the production of cheap and affordable cars, which provide the company with the lion’s share of sales and income. In particular, “Grant” in recent years has shown excellent results in terms of sales and has become one of the most popular models of “AvtoVAZ”. Therefore, the rejection of this family in favor of the more expensive Iskra may adversely affect the financial well-being of the enterprise.

To compensate for the departure of Grants and maintain demand for the budget segment, AvtoVAZ is likely to introduce a completely new family of low-cost cars to the market. It can include presented on the renderings of an independent portal designer “naavtotrsse.ru” liftback VAZ-2106 “Six” 2024.

This car will be created on the basis of the Chinese Baojun RC-5, which will minimize costs and development time due to the finished body and interior. At the same time, AvtoVAZ engineers will take all the technical stuffing, including the engine and transmission, from their current models. So, the new “Six” will receive a modern 1.6-liter VAZ engine with a capacity of 106 hp, which can be adapted to different platforms. Also, the car will be offered with “mechanics” and a Chinese automatic transmission, which will be assembled at AvtoVAZ.

Thanks to the optimal combination of borrowed units and original technical stuffing, the VAZ-2106 “Six” 2024 can turn out to be quite affordable – about 1 million rubles. This will allow the plant to ensure a stable demand for budget cars and compensate for the departure of Grants from the assembly line, but most importantly, saturate the market with cars for a million rubles.
