The media department of the “Lebanese Forces” party said in a statement: “The forces have called and are still calling from the first moment for the necessity of the return of Syrian refugees to their homes, especially since security in Syria has been restored, and the regime group and their opponents can return to the areas belonging to the regime and the opposition, and therefore there is no argument at all.” For their continuation in Lebanon.”
The statement added: “The demand for the return of Syrian refugees has become more urgent, after it became clear the extent of the number of criminal and security-disrupting acts carried out by some of them,” stressing, “At the same time, demanding the return of Syrian refugees to their homes is one thing, and acting with hatred and barbarism is a completely different thing.” “.
The statement continued: “The actions we see on some social media sites and some of the practices we witness on the ground are unacceptable on the one hand, and suspicious in form, content, and timing on the other hand.”
She concluded: “As much as we call, especially the Lebanese authorities, to return Syrian refugees to their homes, we at the same time denounce the barbaric attacks to which some of them are subjected.”
This statement came after video clips spread on social media, showing Syrian refugees being subjected to attacks and beatings by angry citizens.
It is worth noting that the Lebanese Minister of Interior in the caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, had previously stated that “the killing of Suleiman at the hands of a gang of Syrian citizens indicates the need to restrict the number of refugees entering the country from neighboring Syria.”
The Lebanese Army announced last Tuesday that the official in the Lebanese Forces Party, Pascal Suleiman, was kidnapped and killed in Lebanon and his body was transported to Syria by a Syrian robbery gang. The body was received after coordination with Damascus, and the burial ceremony took place yesterday, Wednesday.
The Lebanese Army also confirmed that it had arrested a number of Syrians involved, and a judicial source revealed that the only motive for the crime was robbery.
