A revised, more optimized design
After several years without real change, it is in 2022 that the MacBook Air gets a facelift. This model adopts a more modern form: reduced edges around the screen, appearance of the notch, new speaker system concealed in the hinge… Note also the disappearance of the mention “MacBook Air”, which we found on previous versions, under the screen.
What does not change, however, are obviously these very neat finishes that characterize all the products of the Cupertino company. The whole thing is completed by the very good keyboard with backlit keys, as well as by the wide trackpad comfortable. Regarding the screen, still no OLED or mini-LED, but a new “Liquid Retina” screen (i.e. IPS LCD) of 13.6 inches for a definition of 2,560 x 1,664 pixels. The panel will be very pleasant to look at, both in low light and with somewhat bright ambient lighting. However, beware of glare from the sun, as the screen is rather shiny.
The M2 chip, guaranteed succession
After two years of being powered by the M1 chip, the MacBook Air is now entitled to the powerful M2 chip. Its more recent architecture allows it to perform better. The ultrabook turns on instantly, software opens quickly, including with demanding applications and will run smoothly and without overheating, even if the Pro version is a little more comfortable in this last area.
Finally, for the autonomy part, the MacBook Air M2 will easily last you the whole day. Autonomy far superior to most laptops. It recharges via the famous MagSafe port which is making a remarkable comeback. The latter has the particularity of being magnetic and easily detachable.
