The BAFTA Games Awards have named the most iconic video game characters. The list is available at website project.
The main characters of the games were chosen through a vote held among gamers in honor of the 20th anniversary of the BAFTA Games Awards. The most votes were given to Lara Croft, the main character of the Tomb Raider video game series, who has appeared in several dozen titles.
The second cult character, according to players, was Mario from the Nintendo franchise of the same name. Third place went to Agent 47 from the Hitman series. The top ten main characters also included Sonic the Hedgehog from Sonic the Hedgehog, Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet, Pac-Man from the game of the same name, Link from The Legend of Zelda series, Master Chief from HALO, Kratos from God of War and Shadowheart from Baldur’s Gate 3.
Gamers also remembered characters from the games and franchises Red Dead Redemption 2, Pokémon, Minecraft, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy VII, Yakuza, The Last of Us and Uncharted.
In early April, journalists from Game Informer named The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the greatest game of all time. The top also included The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the original part of The Last of Us, The Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, Mass Effect 2, Super Mario 64 and other games.
