A Bulgarian mobster shot dead in South Africa may have had confidential information about crypto queen Ruja Ignatova.

As stated in the Radio Free Europe reported, Krasimir Kamenov – also known as “Kuro” – was found dead on May 25, along with his wife and two other victims, in his home in Cape Town. Kamenov allegedly operated a number of legal and illegal businesses. Now the assumption has come to light that the underworld boss was killed because he knew too much about the relations between the Bulgarian elite and the criminal underworld.

In March, Kamenov was accused of ordering the murder of police officer Lyubomir Ivanov. When Ivanov’s home was searched, authorities found papers that contained a plan to kill OneCoin crypto queen Ruja Ignatova, who disappeared in 2017 after defrauding OneCoin investors of $5 billion.

The documents, which suggested the woman was executed in 2018, also mention a Bulgarian drug lord and associate of Kamenov.

According to the papers, which are said to have been examined by Bulgaria’s Bureau of Investigation and Information Services (BIRD), the woman was killed on a yacht in the Ionian Sea.

According to BIRD, Kamenov was the “source” of the police reports about the alleged plot and was preparing to reveal more to US investigators.

“It’s interesting that people who have been urban legends for the past 20 years are suddenly in the headlines” investigative journalist Miroliuba Benatova told Radio Free Europe.

“Suddenly, information began to appear that Kuro was a suspect and accused of organizing five murders. It’s as if this person has been protected from all this until now”.

He added: “The entire political elite and the elite of the judicial system have shown very clearly that these people, who come from organized crime, but have washed their affairs clean, are intertwined”.

Police have not yet released a motive or suspects in Kamenov’s murder.

Launched in 2014, OneCoin was heralded as a bitcoin killer. Instead of a cryptocurrency that guarantees huge returns, investors got a useless piece of crap. However, the founder Ignatova and her team had such phenomenal persuasive skills that they conned hundreds of thousands of people and got rich by exploiting the gullibility of the victims.
