The new salaries and the 18 allowances 2024-04-01 06:20:29

The basic daily wage of an unskilled worker increases from 34.84 euros to 37.07 euros, while the unemployment benefit is set at 509 euros from Monday (from 479 euros which it is now).

After the insurance deductions, the new basic salary is 715 euros from the current 672 euros.

Who does it concern?

About 550,000 workers are paid the minimum wage. At the same time, the increase in the minimum wage affects the unemployment benefit received by approximately 140,000 unemployed people, the special benefits for approximately 300,000 seasonal workers, while linked to the minimum wage is also the special provision of maternity protection which, after its extension, also applies to self-employed mothers and female farmers will be granted for 9 months to approximately 60,000 eligible mothers with an amount equal to the minimum wage.

Seduces…

The increase also raises two basic benefits paid with the minimum wage, the marriage allowance for married couples (plus 10% of salary) and three-year benefits (10%, 20%, 30%) on top of the basic salary.

The three-year allowance increases to 83 euros for each three-year period. Employees with 1 three years will receive a 10% increase, (+83 euros) with their earnings of 913 euros. With 2 three-year terms they will receive an increase of 166 euros and a total salary of 996 euros, while with 3 three-year terms they will receive an increase of 249 euros and a salary of 1,079 euros.

If it is a married employee, he is also entitled to a 10% marriage allowance beyond three years. Attention: The marriage allowance is paid to employees by the companies that are members of the employers’ organizations, which co-sign the institutional terms of the National Labor Agreement with the GSEE. Businesses that are not members of employers’ organizations do not have an obligation to pay marriage allowance except on a voluntary basis. For this reason, however, it is estimated by the Federations of private employees that around 250,000 married workers do not receive marriage allowance.

Aim for €1,500

The increase in the minimum wage is 4the in the order given by the government of the New Republic from 2019 onwards to the minimum wage, which went from 650 euros to 830 euros. The government’s goal is for the minimum wage to reach 950 euros by spring 2027 and for the average salary of workers to increase from 1,251 euros to 1,500 euros.

The new increase in the minimum wage brings Greece up to 11the position in the list of 22 countries of the European Union that have a similar minimum wage formation mechanism out of 15the which was in 2023. With the new increase, Greece moves ahead of Malta, Lithuania and Portugal, as on a 12-month basis (including gifts) the new minimum wage amounts to 968 euros from 910 euros before.
