According to statistics released by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases on February 3, in the week to January 29, the average number of flu patients per day at each medical facility nationwide was 10. ,36 people, exceeding the standard warning level of 10 people/facility.

This shows that Japan has risk of an outbreak flu for the next four weeks.

About 5,000 regularly monitored health facilities in all 47 prefectures of Japan reported more than 51,000 cases of influenza during the seven-day period mentioned above. Okinawa is home to the highest number of patients per day on average – 41.23, followed by Fukui with 25.38, Osaka with 24.34 and Fukuoka with 21.70.

Medical experts warn of epidemics flu may spread more widely than in 2021 and 2022 – the time when strict preventive measures COVID-19 helped to significantly curb the incidence of influenza.
