The OGBL still puts pressure on the index

“The index constitutes a red line for us”, affirms an activist of the OGBL. The union erected banners Monday morning on highway bridges. “+2.5%. The index is us”, “Without us, no index”, proclaimed the messages inscribed in red and black. The activists were visible on the A1 (near Grevenmacher), the A3 (Dudelange), the A4 (Leudelange) and the A6 (Mamer), during rush hour.

The latest automatic wage indexation, announced last week, has been effective since February 1. The new installment expected in April will correspond to that of July 2022, then postponed. “We see that more and more people are talking regarding the index and its mechanism, they want to review its mechanism,” laments one of the activists.

He believes that the OGBL “is the only player to defend the index as a whole”. The union had opposed the postponement announced during the spring 2022 tripartite.
