The Outlast Trials: A Million Copies Sold and Soaring Success in Early Access

In May 2023, the independent studio Red Barrels released The Outlast Trials, a survival horror game, to Steam and the Epic Games Store in early access. The premiere of a new game in the Outlast universe was successful, the project stayed on the sales charts for a long time, and just a week later the authors announced a circulation of 500,000 copies. In an interview with DualShockers, Red Barrels co-founder Philip Morin revealed that The Outlast Trials has now sold over a million copies. The game took two months to complete. On Steam, the game collects very positive reviews, it is recommended for purchase by up to 94% of players. The developers have already released two major updates that add new content, open game events, make quality of life improvements and fix game bugs. So far, the developers have not announced when they are going to end the early access period.
