Incredible but true ! Fuel prices mark this Wednesday one of the most spectacular increases in the history of Morocco. For the first time, the price of diesel exceeds that of gasoline. While the latter reached more than 14.20 dirhams per liter this evening, that of diesel broke all records. Gas station attendants post prices above 14.30 dirhams per litre. Following this increase, there is excitement on social networks, Moroccans are in shock.
The rise in fuel prices continues and even exceeds all forecasts. Accentuated by the repercussions of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, fuel prices have far exceeded the 14 dirhams per liter mark.
As a reminder, in the space of two weeks, the price of diesel had increased by a little more than one dirham, crossing the threshold of 13 dirhams in several cities, before exceeding 14 dirhams today. The price of gasoline remained unchanged, around 14.16 to 14.24 dirhams per litre.
This increase in the price of fuel is all the more worrying as it inevitably affects the prices of several basic foodstuffs, further stifling the purchasing power of citizens on the eve of the month of Ramadan.
