The Public Health Agency reaches the Council of Ministers

He Minister council will approve this Tuesday the creation of the State Public Health Agency (Aesap), as the head of Health has advanced, Caroline Dariaswho however has not revealed where the headquarters will be located.

During his speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition ‘The smallpox vaccine’the minister has confirmed that the proposal will reach the Council of Ministers this Tuesday with the aim of reinforcing the work of anticipation and rapid response to challenges such as the one posed by Covid-19.

“Public health threats posed by climate change, globalization and cross-border movements of people and goods, as well as the challenges posed by changing demographics, increasing life expectancy and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseasesjustify the need to expand the current surveillance systems so that they can assess the health status of the population from a holistic perspective, under the ‘one health’ approach”, states the text that will be approved by the Government.

It adds, in this sense, that the agency “must apply this collaborative, multidisciplinary and multisectoral approach, to face emerging and potential health threats that affect the interface man-animal-environmentthrough precise and shared assessments of the situation with the departments with competence in matters of animal health, plant health and environmental protection”.

Where will the Public Health Agency be located?
