The debates of the republican dialogue opened yesterday Thursday March 24 in the hemicycle of the National Assembly.

In the Central African Republic, the republican dialogue, promised for a long time by President Touadéra and supposed to put an end to the crisis which has shaken the country for several decades now, is continuing. A dialogue to restore peace and security, but which takes place without the armed groups, whose main leaders are exiled in Chad, nor the heavyweights of the opposition who have chosen to boycott the meeting. After the work phase in committee, the plenary debates opened on Thursday in the hemicycle of the National Assembly.

Among the recommendations of the commission foreign policy and cooperation “, says its president Fleury Junior Pabandji, there is that of reviewing the agreements with France.

« France has always been at the bedside of the Central African Republic, but most participants thought that for a decade, France has turned its back on the Central African people. »

Other speakers are calling for clarifications on the defense agreement with Moscow: Are the soldiers present really instructors? Are they there to train or fight? asks one of them.

Disband the militias present in the capital

All are calling for an increase in the defense budget: “ We must pay the food bonuses of our soldiers » launches a participant, « and dissolve the militias, in particular that of the “sharks” which are rampant in the capital adds another.

Jean-Sosthène Dembé, Chairman of the Peace and Security Commission: “ In Bangui, we can no longer speak of militias since even at Kilometer 5 people are circulating. I think some people come back in other ways like robbers, thieves. This is what exists in all the big cities of the world. »

The debates continue this Friday on the theme of governance. Some participants fear that the recommendations will lead to a revision of the Constitution.
