Since the end of February, the Russian national team has been suspended from tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA due to a special operation in Ukraine. The Russian team was excluded from the qualifying tournament of the World Cup in Qatar and the Euro 2024 qualification draw.

In early May, due to UEFA sanctions, a sponsorship contract with Spartak terminated Nike. Russian athletes also had problems with equipment suppliers in other sports.
