The seizure of the largest quantity of narcotics in the country’s history came from Iran

On Friday, German prosecutors announced the seizure of the largest quantity of drugs in the country’s history, originating from Iran.

German prosecutors confirmed the arrest of 4 people, one of whom is an Iranian, after seizing the largest quantity of narcotics sourced from Iran.

Prosecutors in Germany said on Friday, according to Archyde.com, that four were arrested after the police made the largest seizure of heroin in the country’s history, confiscating about 700 kilograms as part of a security operation against a drug smuggling gang from Iran.

The authorities seized this quantity of drugs in the port city of Hamburg at the end of August. Police made the arrests on Thursday after searching 10 buildings in the cities of Dresden and Chemnitz in Hamburg and in the Netherlands.

Police confiscated documents, laptops, smartphones and vehicles.

Those arrested are a 40-year-old Turkish and Serbian dual national suspected of being the ringleader, a 35-year-old Iranian in the Netherlands, a 54-year-old German suspected of using his farm and resources to transport drugs, and a 53-year-old Turkish broker.

Several officers from Germany’s crime control office, the customs police in Hamburg and Dresden, the criminal investigation authorities in Hamburg and Saxony, the Hamburg and Saxony state police and the Federal Police, as well as local authorities in cooperation with authorities abroad, participated in the raids.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, investigations are ongoing, including with members of other gangs.
