Marius Bear is in the ESC final. “My performance wasn’t perfect, but I’ll get even better,” promised the 29-year-old. He has to, otherwise it could be difficult to get a top place on Saturday.

Marius Bear will Switzerland on Saturday with his Song «Boys Do Cry» represented in the ESC final. Our country is thus represented in the final round for the third time in a row.

The 29-year-old musician from the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden only had to tremble for his final qualification for a short time last night in Turin. Because Switzerland was named as the first finalist ever.

After that, there was no stopping Marius Bear. Leap of joy followed leap of joy. In the following Press conference described the singer that moment like, “I thought I was dying.”

A lot of courage needed

It took so much courage to come to Turin with a song like “Boys Do Cry”. A song that sounds completely different than most ESC songs.

According to Bear, he is aware that his song is very calm and very fine. It was all the more important to get his emotions across to the living rooms of TV viewers in Europe and Australia.

The fact that he succeeded in this just makes the singer happy. Not least because he had to take some criticism for his stage performance in the days before the semifinals. Some even claimed that the song didn’t fit the ESC.

According to Marius Bear, he felt a lot of pressure on his shoulders. During his semi-final performance the singer seemed to be more nervous than usual. His voice sounded less powerful than usual.

Nevertheless, the artist taught his critics better last night. And that, although he himself believes that he was only “at maybe 60, 70 percent” with his appearance.

Potential for improvement for the final evening

So there is definitely still room for improvement for the finale on Saturday. Marius Bear promises his fans: “I will give everything and perform even better.”

Yesterday evening, after surviving the semifinals, the 29-year-old just wanted to get back to the hotel as quickly as possible and have a drink with his team. But this morning at the latest, his focus is on the big goal again: a top place on the ESC final evening in 2022.

That is when Marius Bear follows in the footsteps of his two predecessors, Gjon’s Tears and Luca Hänni.

Gjon’s Tears from Freiburg made it last year “The Whole Universe” in the top 3. Hänni landed in 2019 with the song «She Got Me» 4th in Tel Aviv.

How far forward Marius Bear will make it with his song “Boys Do Cry” at the ESC final 2022 will be decided around midnight next Saturday.

The ESC final can be seen on SRF 1 on Saturday, May 14 from 9 p.m. And on blue News Manuel Kellerhals and Monika Rufener will tick the whole evening.

Swiss ESC hope Marius Bear: “I’m not Luca Hänni, but my hunger for victory is huge”

Marius Bear has completed the first rehearsals on the ESC stage. He has his Appenzeller lucky charm with him. Nothing can go wrong anymore. Marius Bear is firmly convinced of this, as he reveals to blue News.
