After two years, Sony today officially released a new generation of noise-canceling headphones WF-1000XM5, which has been greatly reduced in size and fully upgraded in specifications. It uses a dual-chip architecture to improve noise-canceling capabilities and sound quality.
WF-1000XM5 is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous generation, only 5.9g per ear, and has the same 24-hour battery life and IPX4 waterproof rating as the previous generation. Supports LDAC and the new LC3 format.
In a smaller volume, Sony stuffed a larger 8.4mm dome edge separation driver unit, as well as a new V2 integrated processor, high-quality noise reduction processor QN2e dual processors, which simultaneously improve bass performance and bring more delicate high frequencies. In addition, the number of microphones on each earphone has been increased to 3 groups, and with a new generation of chips, the official claims that it can enhance the performance of eliminating low frequencies.
Sony claims that the WF-1000XM5 has the best call quality in history. It will receive the vibration of the sound through the bone conduction sensor to separate the call, ambient sound and background noise. It is also assisted by the precise radio technology and advanced audio signal processing technology introduced from the LinkBuds S series.

The US price of Sony WF-1000XM5 is US$299 (about 9,362 yuan), which is US$20 (about 626 yuan) more expensive than the previous generation. As for the price in Taiwan, it has not yet been disclosed.
