Hyundai E&C, taking the overwhelming lead in women’s professional volleyball this season, set a new record for the most points in a single season.
Hyundai E&C defeated Pepper Savings Bank with a set score of 3-0 (25-17 25-22 25-12) in the Dodram 2021-2022 V League Women’s Visit Match held at Pepper Stadium in Gwangju on the 31st.
Yang Hyo-jin scored the most in the team with 17 points with 6 blocking, and Yasmin (14 points) and Ji-yoon Jeong (11 points) recorded double-digit points side by side.
Hyundai E&C has re-established itself as the strongest team in the history of the V-League by harvesting 25 victories from 26 matches.
The previous best record in women’s professional volleyball was 25 wins and 5 losses (73 points) written by the winning team IBK Industrial Bank of the 2012-2013 season.
Hyundai E&C broke this record for the first time in 9 years by sprinting to 13 consecutive wins after losing 12 consecutive wins.
Hyundai E&C set a new record for most points in a single season in the V-League by accumulating 74 points as well as winning 25, the tie for the most wins in a single season.
With 13 consecutive wins, the club’s record for most consecutive wins, just one more win will tie the record for the most consecutive wins in women’s professional volleyball (14 wins).
In the women’s division, Heungkuk Life achieved 14 consecutive wins in the 2019-2020 season and the 2020-2021 season, and GS Caltex in the 2009-2010 season, respectively.
Hyundai E&C’s next match is a visit match against GS Caltex to be held on February 4th at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
Pepper Savings Bank, which had escaped from a 17-game losing streak by defeating IBK Industrial Bank of Korea in the previous match, was aiming for a winning streak, but the wall of Hyundai E&C was high.
Pepper Savings Bank remained at the bottom with 23 losses (2 wins).
In the men’s division, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance defeated Hyundai Capital and escaped from the bottom line with Kyle Russell’s dazzling performance.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance defeated Hyundai Capital with a set score of 3-0 (32-30 25-19 25-23) in the Dodram 2021-2022 V League home match held at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on the 31st.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance has accumulated 11 wins and 14 losses and 32 points in two consecutive victories, bringing OK Financial Group (31 points) to the bottom and moving up to 6th place.
4th place Hyundai Capital has lost its 4th winning streak.
