A young woman in Switzerland blames the beard of the man she shared a kiss with for causing an infection. A dermatologist disentangles fact from fiction.

Beard or no beard? The debate is not only aesthetic, but also health-related. On TikTok, Internet users debated the issue in the comments of the video of a young woman from Zurich, Switzerland, in which she mentioned her scarred chin. “The way you kissed me is going to ruin me forever,” she said to the bearded hunk with whom she had exchanged kisses. With a warning to his community: “stay away from facial hair!”
Asked about the case, Swiss dermatologist Marianne Meli will be able to reassure all bearded people who are worried about the prospect of having to give up their facial hair so that the people with whom they want to share kisses can indulge without fear of a bacterial drama. His verdict: impetigo.
The worst? Spicy three-day beard
“It is a very contagious bacterial disease that is transmitted both with and without a beard,” she says. Hairless faces are therefore no less dangerous than others. Certainly, the dermatologist explains that beards can potentially be significant breeding grounds for bacteria. But from his experience, nothing serious.
On the other hand, certain beards can have consequences on the skin of the person being kissed. Three-day beards are made of hard, prickly hairs that can irritate the skin and create small pimples. According to Marianne Meli, a clean-shaven partner or one with a long beard is better.
