The interim president of the National Union (UN), Jeanine Taty Koumba, following the fire which caused the death of 5 people and one missing on March 20 on the platform of the oil company Perenco Oil and Gas Gabon (POGG), requested an investigation.
“The Union Nationale requests that an investigation be carried out to determine the causes of this serious accident and that measures be taken to prevent such tragedies from happening again”wished Ms. Taty Koumba in a press release.
For the National Union, the Gabonese State must put in place effective security measures to avoid dramatic accidents of this kind, which have become, according to it, recurrent in the oil sector in Gabon.
“The Union Nationale regrets the recurrence of these extremely serious unfortunate events in the Gabonese oil sector and asks the government to do everything possible to ensure compliance with safety standards in this very sensitive and important sector. our economy”, she pleaded.
