JJohn Kerry, White House envoy for climate issues, revealed that the United States will form a specialized team to “ensure” that the electrical reform approved by the Union Congress reflects the best way forward.

Biden’s delegate gave a message after a five-hour meeting with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the National Palace. Ambassador Ken Salazar was also present.

EU GROUP WILL MONITOR THE ELECTRICAL REFORM

The United States will create a special group to monitor the electrical reform in Mexico and ensure that its content reflects “the best possibility of moving forward.”

This was stated by John Kerry, President Joe Biden’s Special Envoy for Climate, in a message after the meeting he held with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which lasted approximately five hours.

President López Obrador agreed that we need to work on the energy reform issues that are on the table in Mexico…we agreed to have a team led by Ambassador Ken Salazar, here in Mexico, that will work in collaboration with the White House, to make sure that whatever comes from the reforms will reflect the best chance of moving forward,” Kerry said in a message to the media that stood guard outside the National Palace as the meeting unfolded.

He stressed that the US will look forward to the discussions of the electrical reform in the Chamber of Deputies, hoping that it will benefit the economic, energy and environmental relationship for both countries and Canada.

Kerry arrived at 1:51 p.m. at the National Palace, went directly to the building’s parking lot in the company of the United States ambassador, Ken Salazar, and businessmen from that country in the energy sector.

President López Obrador was accompanied at the meeting by the Secretaries of the Interior, Adán Augusto López; of Energy, Rocío Nahle; of Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O; the director of Pemex, Octavio Romero, and the director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Manuel Batlett.

Kerry and Salazar were accompanied by the US Economic Affairs Counselor,

Jennifer Davis.

Among the businessmen who joined the US delegation were Jeffrey Martin, CEO of Sempra Energy, and Chris Guinta, CFO of New Fortress Energy, among others.
