The United States is preparing sanctions against Russian companies that provide goods and services for the military and intelligence services, including dual-use components used in weapons proliferation.
These sanctions could be announced next week and would affect companies such as Sernia Engineering, which provides weapons to the Russian intelligence services, Sertal, which produces equipment and technology for the Russian Army, or iGrids, which develops software for automated network control systems. of Russia, according to the American newspaper ‘The Wall Street Journal’.
US President Joe Biden and EU leaders discussed this week the adoption of new sanctions against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine but without the Twenty-seven committing to anything in particular, on the same day that the United States did which has announced new coercive measures.
Biden has participated this Wednesday on an exceptional basis in the European Council and has done so in a first session marked by Ukraine, just one month after the start of the invasion of the country by Russia.
The United States announced this Thursday a new package of sanctions against 328 deputies of the Russian Duma and also the legislative body itself, as well as oligarchs such as Herman Gref, head of the Sberbank bank, and Genadi Timchenko. Washington also points to 48 large public companies linked to the defense industry.
