With the Xiaomi Watch S3, a feature bomb hit the hotly contested wearable market at the end of January, which poses a strong challenge to the competition. More about this in my review.

The Xiaomi Watch S3 comes in a beautiful, thick-walled box. That alone conveys a certain value. The wearable is on top of the box itself. Below there is the usual paperwork, i.e. warranty information and manual, as well as the magnetic charging dock, which fits into any standard socket with USB-A. You’ll look in vain for a socket adapter, but Xiaomi is just following the common greenwashing trend. Besides, you already have a lot of these things lying around at home.

The Xiaomi Watch S3 impresses at first glance with its simple yet elegant design. The matt stainless steel body, framed by a polished silver bezel, gives the watch a timeless aesthetic.
Breathe a sigh of relief for allergy sufferers
The light gray bracelet made of fluoro rubber not only ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist, but also offers high resistance to liquids, oils and fats. A well thought-out detail is the end of the bracelet, which slides under the band and thus provides additional comfort, but does not limit convenience.

The sensors for pulse and oxygen measurement on the bottom of the watch have a ceramic coating, which also makes them suitable for allergy sufferers who suffer from nickel allergies. However, I don’t know whether the fluorocarbon bracelet can also be tolerated by people with latex allergies.
Bezel change!
A special feature of the Xiaomi Watch S3 is the ability to easily replace the watch’s bezel and straps. This allows users to customize the style of the watch individually – even if the rubber strap is incompatible, it can then be replaced with one made of fabric or metal.

However, official interchangeable bracelets and bezels are not available at Uncle Jeff’s General Store, aka Amazon, or at the time of testing official Xiaomi online shop available. However, since various variants are already being advertised, there may only be a limited amount of time until they are available.
The Xiaomi Watch S3 – commissioning, features and battery life:
Setting up the Xiaomi Watch S3 is extremely simple and quick. Within a few minutes, the watch is paired, set up and up to date via the Mi Fitness app. The watch’s Hyper OS is introduced through a short tutorial that explains operation using the two hardware buttons on the right and gestures.

Pures Chaos
The hodgepodge of various apps and features in the directory, however, is exactly that when you first navigate: a collection of icons that you first have to explore and internalize, as the names only become apparent when you open the functions.
Thanks to the fast processor, the watch offers a smooth and responsive user experience. Xiaomi talks about 60Hz – that will be true. In any case, nothing jerked. The AMOLED display not only delivers very nice black levels, but also guarantees good readability at different viewing angles.

With an incredible amount of around 150 trackable sports and activities, including e-sports or even exotic ones like chess, the Xiaomi Watch S3 offers the right training log for almost every user. Motion detection even enables quick and easy on-the-go tracking if you just want to get moving quickly and don’t want to wade through the numerous options.
The Xiaomi Watch S3 also impresses with its ability to measure stress, pulse and blood oxygen. This means that every official in China who is loyal to the government will soon know all of your vital data ;-P This number of health trackers is rounded off by smaller utilities such as a voice memo, emergency contacts, Alexa integration, Bluetooth calls and so on.

An outstanding feature of the Xiaomi Watch S3 is its long-lasting battery, which promises a battery life of up to 15 days. Since my test duration was too short, I cannot reliably confirm this endurance. However, at the end of an intensive day of testing including several tracked sports programs, the battery still showed 92% after approx. 8000 steps with GPS switched on, highest screen brightness, sleep, stress and multiple pulse measurements. The manufacturer’s information could roughly be accurate. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 I used to date is sinking into the ground in disgrace after just 2.5-3 days.
VISA freedom:
The NFC payment function, which is not even supported by competitor Huawei, for example, enables Mastercard owners to pay contactless. However, VISA or other providers are not supported at this time.
