The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed the results of investigations of two of its employees in the security sector, namely Farhan and Kinsun Kase, who carried out illegal levies (extortion) in detention centers (rutan). Both of them were asked to explain in detail all the stages of collecting the extortion.

“The active role of the parties named as suspects in this case is to coordinate the withdrawal of money from detainees in the KPK detention center,” said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement, Thursday (7/3).

As previously reported, ten people were named as suspects in the case. One of them is the DKI Jakarta Regional Government’s state civil apparatus (ASN) Hengki.

“Hengki is already a suspect. “He has moved to the Regional Government (DKI) if I’m not mistaken,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak.

Hengki is the figure who created the extortion scheme in the detention center. The KPK is still investigating his actions even though he no longer works at the prison he manages.

A total of 78 KPK employees have been found ethically guilty for accepting extortion in prison. They were punished by making a public apology.

The ethical punishment is not final. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently investigating disciplinary violations of all its employees who were caught up in the extortion scandal in the detention center. (Z-11)
