From 2035 we will be able to register only electric-powered new vehicles, so we need to prepare for it now, create infrastructure. The municipality of Alytus district aims to install at least 10 charging stations for electric cars in the near future. They will appear not only on main roads, but also in the cities of Daugai, Simno, and larger settlements.

On the initiative of Algirdas Vrubliauskas, the mayor of the Alytus district municipality, a remote meeting was organized with Tomas Žilionis, the head of the development of the network of public charging stations of Eesti Energia, UAB “Enefit”, the subsidiary of the largest group of electricity production and trading companies in the Baltic countries.

“We understand that there are not many electric cars on our roads so far, so the company will not get profit from charging stations anytime soon. However, the municipality must look at nothing less than the 15th year perspective and ensure the services the residents need,” said Mayor A. Vrubliauskas.

According to Enefit representative T. Žilionis, the company, having discussed and selected the locations of public charging stations together with the Alytus district municipality, would install such stations at its own expense in approximately 6-9 months, and also undertakes to cover all the electricity used when charging cars at these charging stations. costs, will take care of equipment maintenance, service and repair. The installation of one station costs the company approximately 20 thousand. euros. All electricity supplied by Enefit is produced from renewable energy sources, so electric cars will be charged with green energy at the charging stations operated by it.

The municipality proposed as many as 13 places where public charging stations could be installed – near main roads, shopping centers, hotels, cafes, so that drivers have somewhere to spend time while the electric car battery is being charged. These are the towns of Simno, Daugai, the villages of Kurnėnai, Mankūnai, Alytus (near roadside cafes), Nemunaitis, Punia, Butrimonys, Pivašiūnai, Miroslavas, Krokialaukis (near the old town), Rajžiūnai (near the amusement park “Tarzanija”), in Alovė old town (next to the cafe ” Alum is bitter”).

Enefit public charging stations are modular and will be equipped with proven and advanced equipment for medium and high power alternating current. By adding modules, the power can be increased as soon as such customer-dictated demand arises.

The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania announced last year that 1,200 public and semi-public charging stations will be installed in Lithuania within three years. Currently, there are 600 such stations, but it is estimated that by 2030 240,000 electric cars will be registered in Lithuania, as car manufacturers will no longer sell cars with internal combustion engines. The production and sale of electric cars is encouraged by the European Union, which has planned real investments in improving the transport infrastructure, increasing its integrity and reducing the impact on the environment. The aim is to make it possible to comfortably travel by electric car across the entire European Union from Finland to the edge of Portugal.

By the way, did you know that the first electric cars appeared around 1880? Electric cars were popular in the 19th century. at the end of the 20th century at the beginning And the current electric car can be fully charged in 1 hour at the Enefit high-power station. 10 minutes If you only have half an hour of free time, you will charge the battery enough to drive 300 km. At medium power charging stations, you can charge energy for 50 kilometers in half an hour.
