If you want to buy a new dishwasher in the middle of the energy crisis, you should make sure that you choose an economical device. Stiftung Warentest took a closer look at 18 dishwashers and came to the conclusion that the most expensive devices are the best ways to save energy and water. The test experts also recommend a cheaper alternative. HEIDELBERG24 summarizes the result of the dishwasher test:

Dishwashers at Stiftung Warentest: This is how the devices were tested

For the current issue “test 8/2022”, Stiftung Warentest tested 15 dishwashers with a width of 60 centimeters. In addition, the test experts also examined three narrower, 45 centimeter wide free-standing devices. Stiftung Warentest subjected the dishwashers to an endurance test with three devices from each brand that ran at least 2,700 times.

The dishwashers were loaded to the maximum and with commercially available Dishwasher tabs, which Stiftung Warentest has also already compared, and dishwasher salt filled. In addition to the various programs such as Eco or Automatic, the test result also included the handling, safety and noise of the machines.

Dishwashers in comparison: Test winners are expensive, but economical

The experts from Stiftung Warentest did not rate a single dishwasher in the test as “very good”. However, four models were rated as “good” – the rest scored “satisfactory”. According to the testers, the best device is that of Miele. Although the dishwasher is the most expensive, according to the test experts it is also the most economical in terms of energy and water and less prone to failure. The best devices in the dishwasher test:

  • Miele G 7160 SCVi Autodos (online price 1,350 euros): Grade “Good” (2.1)
  • Bosch SMD6ECX57E (online price 790 euros): grade “good” (2.2)
  • Neff S157CX35E (online price 840 euros): Grade “Good” (2.3)
  • Siemens SN65ZX49CE (online price 890 euros): Grade “Good” (2.3)

Dishwashers at Stiftung Warentest: This device is the cheapest alternative

Stiftung Warentest also has a tip for people who want to use a slightly cheaper dishwasher: According to the test report, the device from Bauknecht (BCIO 3C33) has a good eco program and is available at around 550 euros for the fully integrated and around 450 euros for the partially integrated Device cheaper than the test winners. The Bauknecht dishwasher achieved the grade “satisfactory” (2.6) in the test. The judgment was devalued, among other things, because of a bad adjustment in the automatic program. Dishwashers in the test: narrow devices are not convincing

Incidentally, the three narrow devices, which are often used in small kitchens with a width of 45 centimeters, did not convince the experts from Stiftung Warentest. “In the test, narrow ones generated higher operating costs than wide ones,” says the test report. The devices from Bosch and Siemens received a grade of “satisfactory” (2.7), the device from Grundig even only a “sufficient” (3.7). In the current “test” output has Stiftung Warentest also took a closer look at children’s toothpaste. (line)
