A 5-year-old girl suffered second-degree burns from a fireworks display on July 14, 2022 in Maury (Pyrénées-Orientales). An accident that will scar him for life. Since then, his parents have been facing significant financial difficulties because they have been unable to reimburse the care provided to him, reports France 3 Occitanie.

The General Directorate of Public Finance is demanding nearly 4,500 euros from the couple for the treatment their daughter underwent for two weeks in hospital. A sum to which must be added more than 1,500 euros for home care, the cost of transport to hospital and products purchased in pharmacies. More than 6,000 euros in total.

A judicial investigation has been opened to determine who is guilty and who will therefore have to pay damages to the family. In the meantime, the town hall of Maury has already transferred 2,300 euros to the Municipal Social Action Center of Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, where the family lives, so that this sum can be paid to them.
