When they left, they had paid £160 (€180) for a secure location for their car. Coming back, they found it wrecked: the catalytic converter had been removed. “The parking attendant told me that after the Covid layoffs they just couldn’t get the staff back, or didn’t try”.

The fate is hounding this family since according to Oliver: “It seems likely that our car will be deregistered by the insurance, which will leave us no choice but to buy a new car”.
