A real atypical smartphone

This will not escape anyone: the Nothing Phone (1) is an atypical smartphone that is unlike any other. This originality is explained by its transparent back under which spread out small LEDs capable of drawing rhythmically patterns modeled on the sounds and notifications of the smartphone. We call it the Glyph, and it must be said that its presence has a real daily use. You can even use the glyphs in silent mode if you don’t support the sound design.

Otherwise, we have here a smartphone whose silhouette has some common points with that of the Apple iPhone, with its thin borders around the screen, its flat edges and its rounded edges. The Nothing Phone (1) will also be rather light with its weight of 193.5 g, despite its generous dimensions (159.2 x 75.8 x 8.3 mm). A lightness which is explained in particular by the aluminum design of the smartphone.

Rather premium features

The Nothing Phone (1) may not exceed 500 euros, but it still has a technical sheet with several elements borrowed from premium smartphones. We are first entitled to a 6.55-inch Full HD + OLED panel which benefits from a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is the assurance of excellent fluidity in the display of images. A quality that helps to console itself for the low light from which the smartphone suffers. On the performance side, the smartphone is powered by a mid-range chip, the Snapdragon 778G +, engraved in 6 nm and supported by 8 GB of RAM. A configuration that ensures good performance in game: 3D titles can be launched without a hitch, but without pushing the graphics to the maximum. Beware also of the heating that some parts could cause.

On the photo side, the Phone (1) defends itself rather well with its main wide-angle sensor of 50 Mpx (f / 1.88) with optical and electronic stabilization of the image, and its ultra wide-angle of 50 Mpx (f /2,2) with electronic stabilization. The main sensor will make it possible to obtain shots with correct sharpness and with enough detail. A loss of sharpness can however be noticed when the light starts to dim. Finally, concerning its autonomy, the Nothing Phone (1) is rather enduring since it is able to last a full day, even a day and a half with moderate use. Recharging will be a bit slow.
